Hi there, me and my mother are asking for help because our finch has a bigger beak then ever, she never uses the cottle bone to file her beak and her beek is turning dirty or dark and it looks like it needs cleaning. Is the soft side of the bone facing the inside of the cage?
Replace all perches with branches with bark and leaves on them. It is natural for a bird to feak it's beak which cleans it. If you can hold the bird, wet your fingers and clean the beak and look to see if there is a problem like a crack in the beak.
It may need to be trimmed. Buy a mineral block - a small one. Also check that the cuttle bone is right near a perch - the new ones and the soft part is inside.
Where are you? I can come and check the bird out and perhaps trim the beak.,
