My husband bought my six year old some Parakeets %26amp; I'm left to take care of them... The male parakeet is starting to grow a wierd looking beek %26amp; I don't know if I should be doing something! Please Help!!!|||You should take the bird to the vet if it's getting an overgrown beak, just to get it back to normal. If you can't afford to go to a vet, try putting cuttlebone and various toys and perches in his cage for him to chew on. This way your parakeet can get his own beak back to normal.
My birds love the calcium perches that come in flavors, here is a website for various perches you can buy;

You can also go into any petstore and ask them for products to help keep your parakeet's beak nice and trimmed and they will be happy to help you.|||What exactly does that look like? Is the tip getting really long? Some birds have overgrown beaks due to liver problem. Make sure you feed them pellets, veggies and fruits, not just seeds. Healthy diet will reduce chance of liver problems. Also get a calcium block (or cuttlebone) to chew on, this will help file down the beaks. Another option is taking it to an avian vet.|||do you have sandpaper tubing on one of your perch's these not only keep their nails trimmed but also there beaks
if it is real bad you will need to gently sand it down with sandpaper.|||he probably has mites. you should see if the vet has any medicine.
